The Dream, The Goal, The Journey....

Hello there. As the title insinuates, and as Martin Luthar King once said, "I have a dream!". My dream is to become a tech savvy individual who brings about change - though I suppose I would be lying if I said I wouldn't ever simply just write about my life and general shenanigans from time to time too! However, this is my Maiden Voyage with blogging, so please bare with me - my journey has just begun!

What's the plan you ask? What is next step in my "journey of a thousand miles", (Thank you Lao Tzu..?). Well! As far as I can tell, the next step is to learn this blogging system so it's not such an eye soar for you folk who are trying to read this! So in this blog post I shall learn, and share, how to post pictures, how to add links, and how to add videos as well.

Goal #1: Learn to attach pictures:

As I am writing this, I have noticed a picture icon next to the blue, underlined, word "link" in the tool bar. I shall click this icon... (Oh the suspense!)

Great success! So what happened after I clicked on it was there was a window that popped up that had various methods of "uploading" pictures to my blog article listed along the left-hand side. I clicked on "Upload", then "Choose Files" at the top of the page... which brought me to a window where I could browse my computer, which I did... So I could find this picture (which is quite dashing, I know... also happens to be my linkedin profile picture). I then clicked on the picture, and then proceeded to click, "Open", which brought me back a page where I could click "Add".. or maybe it was "Add Selected".. and Poof! Up popped my picture! The reason the picture is located above this paragraph is that I moved it their after it appeared... Makes it look like I cheated.. but I didn't a swear! You can also upload pictures to your blog via the other methods available after clicking the picture icon.. We can go over that another time ;)

Goal #2: How to post a link:

Once again I am typing as I learn - it makes it more fun! And pardon me for my grammatical inadequacies, I'm just having too much fun! Yipee! So as I mentioned in the blurb about adding a picture, there is a blue, underlined, word "link".. So I shall now click on that as it seem like a logical place to start. (Again, the angst!)

So... it's pretty straight forward. Clicking on "link" opened a window which had the cursor (The blinking line thingy) already in an input box that was for typing in a URL. For those of you who don't know what a URL is, an example would be, "www.blogger.com". Make sense? Kapeesh? good...  Next, after typing in a URL, which will be what your link will take a person to when clicked, move your blinky line thingy to the box above to type in ANYTHING! And by anything I mean the text you want to have appear, that is click-able, and will then take someone to the URL you are using.. Then hit ok!  Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins! <---- Is my example. Of course it probably helps to have the wording you choose have some relation to the URL you send them to. Close enough! You can google anything anyway.

Goal #3: Adding a video!:

Adding a video is much like adding a picture. Next to the aforementioned picture icon in the tool bar, there is a.... I have no idea what it's actually called. But in short, "the black square that looks like an tear-open bag - used when saying 'action!' on a movie set"... Ya.. that thing. Click on that. It will bring you to a window much like the picture window, where there is a list of ways you can upload a video listed on the left-hand side. For me, I'm going to use "From YouTube" since I have nothing on my computer worthy of this blog.. yet. Once selecting "From YouTube", simply type as if you were using YouTube normally, and then select the search result you would like to display on your blog. I have selected this treat for you! It is both amazing, and terrifying. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading my very first Blogger post ever, I hope it was informative, and if not, at least mildly entertaining. (C'mon.. that video is pretty cool!) If you have any feedback, any suggestions, or any questions, I'd love to hear about them in the comments below. Also, if anyone can inform me the proper name for the item represented in the video icon, fill me in! I would be greatly appreciative. Have a good day everyone!

To our lives success.
